Advocacy and Policy Work

Carers are rarely in the room when decisions get made about the systems they rely on. Power to Care works to change that — individually, alongside the carers we support, and more broadly, in the rooms where policy gets written.

Speaking Up, Individually

If you're stuck in a system that isn't listening, we'll advocate alongside you — case by case, whatever the situation needs.

A Seat at the Table

Kris sits on Royal Melbourne Hospital's Community Advisory Committee as a Carer Representative, and regularly presents at conferences, panels and forums — including ABC Radio Melbourne, SBS News, the Neighbourhood Houses Victoria Conference, and the Inaugural Carer Industry Forum.

Contributing to Policy

Power to Care's predecessor organisation made a submission to the 2019 Royal Commission into Victoria's Mental Health System, and more recently, Submission 115 to the Australian Parliament's inquiry into recognising, valuing and supporting unpaid carers — pushing for carers to be recognised as part of the care team, not an afterthought.
