Information & Resources

Finding the right support shouldn't mean untangling five different systems on your own. Here's what's currently available to carers in the Macedon Ranges and Sunbury — kept up to date as things change.

Financial Support

Carer Allowance — around $130 a fortnight, not means-tested. It also unlocks the Victorian Carer Card, which comes with a petrol discount.

Government & NDIS Navigation

Carer Gateway — a federal program, delivered locally through Bendigo Health. It can fund a Tailored Support Package covering things like education costs, respite, cleaning, shopping and transport. You'll be assessed through something called a "Carer Star" — our tip: describe your hardest day, not your best one.

Mental Health & Wellbeing Support

Mental Health and Wellbeing Connect, delivered through MIND Australia

Home & Practical Support

Delivered through more than 40 organisations across the region, including Villa Maria and Bendigo Health. Covers personal care, home care and meal prep, and flexible respite.

Young Carers

Young Carer Bursary — for carers up to age 25. Applications generally open around October each year.

Local Community Support

Woodend Neighbourhood House — runs low-cost and no-cost activities.
